A total of 31 industry, mining and port projects in Orissa were awaiting environmental clearance as on July 31, according to the Ministry of Environment & Forests.
Giving this information in a written reply in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, the Minister of State for Environment and Forests (Independent charge), Ms Jayanthi Natarajan, said the perceived delay in according environmental clearance inter alia included non-compliance of the procedures of the EIA Notification 2006 and circulars of the Ministry.
The other reasons were inadequate information on critical environmental parameters as well as deficiencies in Environmental Management Plans by the project proponents, she added.
