The Kerala Government will conduct road shows on the ‘Emerging Kerala Global Connect’ in major cities such as Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

The road show will travel to destinations abroad, according to Mr Alkesh Sharma, Managing Director, Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC).

Huge success

The road shows already conducted in Delhi and Mumbai have been a huge success.

Mr Sharma said this while inaugurating the district-level meeting of industrialists held here as part of the build-up towards the bigger event.

KSIDC is the nodal agency for this investor summit which takes place in Kochi from September 12 to 14.

Nearly 300 investors and industrialists from Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts turned out for the district-level meet held here.

The meet was organised under the aegis of KSIDC and the District Industries Centre.

Officials from the Kerala State Electricity Board; Pollution Control Board; Kerala Water Authority; Kerala Financial Corporation; Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation; Infrastructure Kerala Ltd; and Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd, attended the event.

CORE SECTORS

Mr T.O. Sooraj, Director, District Industries Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, welcomed the gathering.

Mr T.P. Thomaskutty, Executive Director, KSIDC, made detailed presentations on core sectors identified by the State Government for being showcased at the event.

They included IT and ITeS; knowledge/education; tourism; food and agro-processing; ports; shipbuilding and logistics; healthcare services; energy, including green energy and environment technologies; science and technology including biotechnology; nanotechnology and life sciences; and infrastructure development.

Mr S. Ramnath, Managing Director, Kinfra; Mr N. Sasidharan Nair, Executive Director, Inkel; Mr R. V. Subramanian Deputy general Manager, GAIL; Mr A. Suresh Babu Managing Director, VISL; presented various possibilities for investment.

LARGE ATTENDANCE

Among others who were present included Mr Padmakumar, Executive Director, Penpol; Mr P. G. Mathew, President, Trivandrum Management Association; Mr Reghunath, Managing Director, Travel Scape Hotels; and Mr Raveendran, Director, Accel Frontline.
