The national floor level minimum wage has been revised from Rs 100 per day to Rs 115 per day with effect from April 1.
Accordingly, the Union Labour Ministry has asked all State governments/Union territory administrations to fix/revise minimum wages so that these are not lower than national floor level.
The revision has been done on the basis of the rise in the All-India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers, the Ministry said here on Thursday.
The national floor level is a non-statutory measure and was mooted to reduce the disparity in minimum wages across the country.
The Union Government had set up five committees to reduce regional disparities in minimum wages of same or similar scheduled employments.
