The Space Commission will have a full bench meeting on February 12 in New Delhi to approve the cancellation of the agreement between Devas and Antrix.

Dr K Radhakrishnan, Secretary, Department of Space, will chair the meeting. The high-powered Space Commission includes Mr T.K.A. Nair, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister; Mr K.M. Chandrasekhar, Cabinet Secretary; Mr S.S. Menon, National Security Advisor; Ms Sushma Nath, Finance Secretary; and Mr R. Gopalan, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs.

Once the Commission takes a decision, it will be taken to the Cabinet for ratification next week. According to sources, the meeting will be held at Lok Nayak Bhavan in Delhi at 11 a.m.

The DoS on Tuesday had said that it was looking at the best exit option for annulling the contract with Devas Multimedia.

While the DoS said that it had taken the decision to cancel the contract in 2009, Devas Multimedia on Thursday said that it was all along told by ISRO that the project was getting delayed due to technical issues. The agreement was signed in 2005 and the service was supposed to have been launched this year.
