Launching the website for the job fair — www.alvaspragati.com — here on Saturday, Dr Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, said that more than 150 companies from various sectors will participate in the job fair.

More than 25,000 students are expected to attend the job fair. Mr M. Veerappa Moily, Union Corporate Affairs Minister, will preside over the inaugural of Alva’s Pragati, he said.

Mr Vivek Alva, Managing Trustee of the foundation, said that more than 140 companies participated in Alava’s Pragati in 2011. Nearly 15,000 participants from more than 300 colleges participated in the job fair. Of them, nearly 3,000 got selected in various companies.

This year, Alva’s Pragati will have ‘employability enhancement centre’. This is a dedicated assessment and counselling wing with more than 100 counsellors with experience and training.

Mr Vivek Alva said the primary responsibility of this wing is to provide clarity and guide the participants to the right job. This will make the drive more effective by increasing the conversion ratio, he added.
