IT major Wipro on Wednesday said that it was in discussion with the West Bengal Government regarding possession of its land at Rajarhat in New Town on the eastern fringes of Kolkata.
Wipro along with Infosys had each identified 50 acres of land for setting up their second campuses. Wipro and Infosys each have a campus in the IT hub - Sector V - in Salt Lake in West Bengal.
“There are certain infrastructure issues - like sewerage, water and electricity - that need to sorted out first, after which we will take possession of the land," Mr Suresh C. Senapathy, Executive Director and Chief Finance Officer, Wipro, said.
According to Mr Senapathy, he expects to take possession of a "functional piece of land" with all infrastructure issues being resolved within six months.
The IT major is currently operating full capacity at its existing Salt Lake campus and expects its new campus at Rajarhat to be a ‘mix of IT and BPO'.
