With the first stage of the Jalswarajya scheme to improve water supply in the State all set to be complete in June, Maharashtra Government today discussed phase II of the implementation of the project with the World Bank officials.

Water Supply and Sanitation Department sources said the discussions pertained to sustainability, capacity building of water stress areas and how to improve water quality.

One of the proposals to improve water quality is to set up a resource centre and discuss ways to recharge overexploited groundwater, the sources said.

The total project will cost $300 million (Rs 350 crore) out of which $80 million will be spent on capacity building, and training and awareness programmes, they said.
