The Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Madhya Pradesh has gained new heights with exports growing by over 150 per cent in 2010-11 as against last fiscal.

The Indore SEZ recorded exports of Rs 1,242 crore during the stipulated fiscal as against Rs 494 crore of previous year, making a jump above 150 per cent, its Development Commissioner, Mr A.K. Rathore, who released the statistics, said on Wednesday.

Turnover jumps

Also, the total turnover of the zone has touched Rs 1,911 crore this financial year as against Rs 726 crore in the previous year, recording a growth of 160 per cent, Mr Rathore said.

Though there was one SEZ also set up at Jabalpur which is not functional at this moment, MP's Indore SEZ attracted investors and entrepreneurs due to its better single window facilities, fiscal incentives and non-bureaucratic atmosphere, he claimed.

The employment and investment in the zone has touched a double digit of 11,500 employees and Rs 2,500 crore respectively in one year alone (2010-11), he said.
