LTI, formerly known as L&T Infotech, is planning to hire 1,500 engineers in India.

The listed entity, which is also a group company of Mumbai-based manufacturing/construction giant Larsen & Toubro, is positive about its prospects in the 2018 fiscal and in line with this plans to hire engineers.

“These (hires) will be in the areas of digital analytics, Cloud computing, IoT and Agile software development,” said Sanjay Jalona, CEO of L&T Infotech. LTI employs around 20,000 people all over the world.

It is also looking at different ways to mitigate the changes in the H-1B visa regime. These include hiring more locals, off-shoring more work to India and setting up centres in places such as Ireland and Canada. “We haven’t put a number to it, but will decide as and when we require it in our business,” said Jalona.

Q4 results

The company also reported its fourth-quarter results for the period ended March 2017. Profits on a sequential basis came in at ₹254.5 crore, up 2.6 per cent from ₹248 crore compared with the December 2016-ended quarter, largely due to growth in its banking and financial services, consumer packages goods and media and entertainment lines of business.

Revenue grew marginally 0.6 per cent to ₹1677.2 crore for the quarter ended March. For the fiscal 2017, revenues went up 11.2 per cent ₹Rs. 6,500 crore.

The company is bullish on its prospects for the 2018 fiscal. “The new deals announced in the third quarter of the 2017 financial year will start yielding results by the end of the second quarter of this fiscal,” said Jalona. In 2017 fiscal, growth mainly came from top 50 accounts, and Jalona believes this client base will continue to add to growth as the company will continue to mine existing clients, and at the same time look at newer ones where business transformation is needed with the help of technology.
