Internet and technology company LeEco will start selling its Le 1s handset through retail stores in a bid to capture a larger share of the already crowded Indian smartphone market.

The phone was earlier available only on Flipkart.

The company kicked off its offline launch phase from New Delhi. In the initial phase, the phone will be available in select stores across Delhi and Mumbai, a company release said.

In the second phase, the Beijing-based company hopes to extend its reach to cover 70 per cent of retail stores across India.

Plans for own stores

According to Atul Jain, COO, Smart Electronics Business, LeEco India, the company’s entry into the physical retail space affirms its upward-spiralling growth trajectory. With this step towards making their Superphones more accessible, he said the company looks forward to having its own wholly owned retail stores across the country.

LeEco started its India operations in January this year with two Superphones Le 1s and Le Max.
