Laranya Infoedge, promoted by the Agarwal family that owns hosiery and apparel maker Rupa & Co, on Thursday launched QOIE, a shopping discovery app.
According to Manish Agarwal, Director, QOIE, the app, currently available in Kolkata, will be taken across the Eastern region, including cities such as Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Jamshedpur, over the next few days.
“Over the next 24 months, we will look at taking the app nationwide,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the launch.
The firm will initially be charging shopkeepers/retailers for uploading specific information such as discounts. The app will also act as an aggregator connecting interior decorators and designers with store owners.
“In the long run, we may use the space available on our app for advertisers,” Agarwal said.
The app — available on both iOS and Android platforms — aggregates information on malls, shops, brand stores, hi-street stores and so on. It is also expected to provide information on the location of stores and discounts running across stores. Users can also get info about trending products.
The firm said nearly 150,000 retailers and shopkeepers are already on the platform.
