To wrest back some much-needed market share from Xiaomi and other Chinese players, Samsung has introduced its Galaxy M series, which sits between the lower-end J series and the pre-flagship A series.
The newly-launched Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M10 will be available on Amazon.in and Samsung.com from February 5. Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M10 will be available in Ocean Blue and Charcoal Black colours. Galaxy M20 will be priced at ₹12,990 for the 4GB+64GB variant, while the 3GB+32GB variant will cost ₹10,990. Galaxy M10 is priced at ₹8,990 for the 3GB+32GB variant and ₹7,990 for the 2GB+16GB.
“Galaxy M smartphones are powerful and stylish, and have been designed to cater to the aspirations of today’s tech-savvy millennials. With these devices, we have dialled up a really powerful experience in every dimension. Today’s millennials want a smartphone that is lighting fast, runs longer and comes loaded with latest innovations. Meaningful innovation and customer-centric approach form a part of our very DNA and the new Galaxy M series is an embodiment of that commitment,” Asim Warsi, Senior Vice-President, Samsung India, said.
Of the two phones, the M20 is the higher end model and sports an FHD ‘Infinity-V’ display, which is Samsung’s term for a display that has extremely thin bezels and houses the front in the tiny notched area on the top of the screen. The M10 too has the same format on its display but comes with a lower resolution and lower specs. The M20, for example, comes with a hefty 5,000mAh battery and fast charging. The M20 also has a rear fingerprint sensor and both phones unlock with image-based face recognition.
Other features
Both Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M10 come with a 13MP primary rear camera with F1.9 aperture. The secondary rear camera has a 5MP ultra-wide feature. The ultra-wide mode lets users capture more expansive photos such as landscapes, cityscapes, group photos.
Both Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M10 come with dedicated storage slot expandable to 512GB and will have dual SIM VoLTE support.
Although Xiaomi has practically carpeted the budget segment of the smartphone market in India with value-for-money offerings, Samsung has been a long established and trusted brand that stands a good chance of solidifying its position in the country with a new series of smartphones.
