Spot turmeric prices decreased at Erode markets due to the arrival of medium quality turmeric. Only sixty per cent of the arrivals were sold.
On Wednesday, 1,600 bags arrived for sale. The price of the turmeric in the futures remained unchanged.
The finger variety decreased by ₹700 and root variety by ₹50 a quintal, when compared to the previous day. But the root variety gained ₹80 in the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, finger turmeric was sold at ₹6,155-7,887; root variety at ₹5,189-7,333 a quintal. Of the arrival of 552 bags, only 251 were sold.
At the Regulated Marketing Committee, the finger turmeric traded at ₹6,739-7,700 and the root variety at ₹6,459-7,211. Of the arrival of 640 bags, 348 were sold.
At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger variety fetched ₹7,055-8,289; the root variety at ₹6,793-7,469. Out of 379 bags offered, 366 were sold.
