Cardamom prices fell by Rs 21.70 to Rs 1,134.40 per kg at the futures trade today as speculators indulged in profit-booking, driven by a weak trend at the spot markets due to sluggish demand.

Adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from the producing regions also put pressure on the cardamom prices at the futures trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April fell by Rs 21.70 or 1.88 per cent to Rs 1,134.40 per kg with a business turnover of two lots. Likewise, June contract declined by Rs 20.10 or 1.74 per cent to Rs 1,137 per kg with a business volume of eight lots.

Traders said besides profit-booking by speculators, subdued demand in the spot market also weighed down the futures prices.
