Cardamom prices moved down by Rs 17.10 to Rs 1,082 per kg at the futures trade today owing to sluggish demand at existing higher levels. Also, fresh arrivals in the spot market from the producing belts put pressure on cardamom futures prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April fell by Rs 17.10 or 1.55 per cent to Rs 1,082 per kg with a business turnover of 90 lots. June contract eased by Rs 10.10 or 0.88 per cent to Rs 1,144.30 per kg with a business turnover of 18 lots.
Similarly, May contract shed Rs 9.90 or 0.87 per cent to Rs 1,124 per kg with a business volume of 195 lots.
Analysts said fall in demand at existing higher levels against fresh arrivals in the physical market mainly led to a fall in cardamom prices at the futures trade.
