Cardamom prices rose by 1.43 per cent to Rs 860 per kg in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by pick up in spot market demand.
Restricted arrivals from producing regions also supported the uptrend.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in October rose by Rs 12.10 or 1.43 per cent to Rs 860 per kg with a business turnover of 33 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in September gained Rs 7.40 or 0.92 per cent to Rs 808 per kg with an open interest of 134 lots.
Analysts said fresh buying by speculators on pick up in spot demand due to ongoing festive season against restricted arrivals from producing Southern region, mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures market.
