Cardamom prices rose by Rs 19.70 to Rs 949 a kg in futures trade today largely on the back of pick-up in spot market demand amid low stocks following restricted arrivals from the producing regions.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for July delivery rose by Rs 19.70 or 2.12 per cent to Rs 949 a kg with a trading volume of 11 lots.
Cardamom for June delivery advanced by Rs 19.40 or 2.11 per cent to Rs 938 a kg, with an open interest of 55 lots.
The spice for delivery in May gained Rs 17 or 1.92 per cent to Rs 904.50 a kg with a business volume of 42 lots.
Traders said pick-up in the spot market demand against restricted arrivals from producing regions, mainly led to the rise in prices at the futures market.
