Chana continued to trade higher with demand outstripping arrivals. On Tuesday, chana (kanta) ruled at ₹3,100-3,150, chana (Delhi) at ₹3,250-75, chana (desi) at ₹2,750-2,800, chana (mausmi) ruled at ₹3,100, while Kaktu ruled at ₹3,200 a quintal. Compared to last week, chana is ruling ₹100-125 higher.
Amid report of decline in sowing area and crop output this year, future of chana appears bullish. Given report of decline in sowing area chana output in the country this year is expected to decline to 55-60 lakh tonnes against 70 lakh tonnes last year. Anticipating decline in crop output, stockists have gone on a buying spree to build stock. On the other hand, dollar chana traded low on slack domestic and export demand. In Indore mandi s, dollar chana ruled at ₹4,000-4,800 amid arrival of 2,500 bags in local mandi s.
In container also dollar chana traded low on slack export demand with prices of dollar chana (42/44 count) being quoted at ₹5,275-5,300, 44/46 count at ₹5,075-5,100, dollar chana 58/60 count ruled at ₹4,125-50, while dollar chana (60/62 count) was quoted at ₹4,025-50 a quintal respectively.
