The rice market witnessed a steady trend despite sluggish trading. Prices of aromatic and non-basmati rice ruled firm with little movement on Wednesday.
Rice prices ruled firm as trade enquiries supported the market, said Mr Tara Chand Sharma, a rice trader. Demand for brokens rice in domestic market is rising and market may witness an uptrend soon, he said.
After witnessing a downtrend earlier this week, Pusa-1121 (steam) sold at Rs 4,950-5,200 a quintal, Pusa-1121(sela) quoted between Rs 4,000-4,020 while Pusa-1121(raw) quoted at Rs 4,420 a quintal.
Duplicate basmati sold at Rs 3,450 a quintal. Pure basmati (raw) remained flat and quoted at Rs 5,900-5,920 a quintal while the Sela variety quoted at Rs 4,000-4,020 a quintal.
Among the brokens of Pusa 1121, Tibar sold at Rs 3,100-3,320, Dubar ruled at Rs 2,650 and Mongra was trading at Rs 1,900-2,130 a quintal.
Sharbati (steam) was quoted at Rs 2,900-2,920 while the Sharbati (Sela) was at Rs 2,740-2,765 a quintal.
Among the brokens of Sharbati variety, Tibar quoted at Rs 2,350-2,520, Dubar sold at Rs 2,100-2,230 while Mongra was trading at Rs 1,720-1,750 a quintal.
Permal (sela) quoted at Rs 1,700-1,870 a quintal while Permal (Raw) sold at Rs 1,900-2,050 a quintal.
PR11 (Sela) sold at Rs 2,000-2,120 while PR-11(Raw) quoted at Rs 1,925-2,100 a quintal.
Paddy Arrival
Around 1,200 bags of Sathi arrived from Uttar Pradesh and sold at Rs800-840 a quintal.
