Freight rates for 10-tonne pay load section improved up to Rs 1,000 at the local truck transport market today, following busy cargo movements amid less position of trucks.
Transporters said shortage of trucks and arrivals of increased cargo movements mainly pushed up prices at some centres.
Delhi to Ahmedabad and Vijayawada rose by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 12,000 and Rs 32,000. Rates to Chennai and Kochi also moved up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 40,000 and Rs 52,000, respectively.
Elsewhere, the prices maintained overnight levels on some support.
Following were the rates in Rs for load of 10 per tonne: Ahmedabad 12,000, Hyderabad 30,000, Mumbai 21,000, Vijayawada 32,000, Baroda 16,000, Chennai 40,000, Pune 23,000, Bangalore 40,000, Surat 18,000, Mysore 43,000, Kanpur 10,000, Puducherry 43,000, Kolkata 24,000, Coimbatore 49,000, Ludhiana 11,000, Kochi 52,000, Chandigarh 10,000, Thiruvananthapuram 60,000, Jaipur 9,000, Goa 37,000, Indore 13,500, Gwalior 9,000, Patna 20,000 and Guwahati 38,000.
