On the back of heavy selling by farmers and stockists, spot prices of castor moved down. However, on the other hand, futures gained marginally due to short covering. Traders said that as sowing of castor has increased farmers are selling the produce on hopes of higher production this year. With this, slack demand for castor oil also dragged the spot prices. About 35,000-40,000 bags of castor seed arrived in Gujarat and price decreased by ₹10 to ₹830-835 for a maund of 20 kg. Around 2,800-2,900 bags arrived in Saurashtra and went for ₹785-795.
