Kalaunji and jeera prices rose up to Rs 200 per quintal in the national capital today owing to increased buying by retailers and stockists.

Fall in supplies from producing belts also supported the upside in prices.

Kalaunji prices rose by Rs 200 to conclude at Rs 7,700-8,700 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also increased by Rs 100 each to finish at Rs 12,800-13,000 and Rs 16,500-16,800 per quintal.

Traders said buying support from retailers and stockists against fall in supplies from producing belts, mainly pushed up kalaunji and jeera prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

The following are today’s quotations per quintal: Ajwain 11,500-18,000, black pepper (per kg) 470-600, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 850-900 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 940-1,090.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 660-760, cardamom (colour robin) 600-700, cardamom bold 650-700, cardamom extra (bold) 800-900 and cloves (kg) 770-860.
