Chana, masoor and moong improved marginally on improved queries and weak arrivals, while tur and urad remained unchanged despite subdued buying.

New moong gained on Tuesday, with its best quality quoting Rs 100 up at Rs 4,300-4,600 a quintal, while new moong (medium quality) ruled at Rs 3,300-3,800 a quintal. Moong juna (old) also ruled flat at Rs 3,600-4,200 a quintal despite subdued demand. Arrival of new moong in local mandis declined to merely 250-300 bags (800 bags).

While moong (mongar) remained firm at Rs 5,700-5,800 a quintal, moong dal gained a little on improved buying. Moong quoted at Rs 5,600-5,700 and moong dal (medium) at Rs 5,200-5,300 a quintal. Arrival of moisture-laden moong in local mandis has weakened mill demand, a trader told Business Line .

Chana (kanta) gained Rs 25 at Rs 3,375-3,400 a quintal on slightly improved demand, while chana (desi) remained firm at Rs 3,300. Higher spot chana perked up its dal as well, with chana dal (bold) being quoted Rs 50 up at Rs 4,350-4,375 a quintal, chana dal (medium) at Rs 4,250-4,275 and chana dal (average) at Rs 4,125-4,150 a quintal.

Masoor and its dal also gained on improved demand. Masoor (bold) quoted Rs 25 up at Rs 3,000 a quintal, while masoor (medium) ruled at Rs 2,750. Similarly, masoor dal gained, with masoor dal (bold) being quoted at Rs 3,550-3,575, masoor dal (medium) at Rs 3,475-3,500 and masoor dal (average) at Rs 3,375-3,400 a quintal.

Tur (Maharashtra) ruled firm at Rs 3,350-3,400 a quintal, while tur (Nimari) declined by Rs 100 at Rs 2,500-2,700 a quintal. Tur (marka) on Tuesday ruled at Rs 6,300 a quintal, tur dal (full) at Rs 5,500-5,550 a quintal and tur dal ( sawa no.) at Rs 4,500-4,550 a quintal.

Urad ruled flat at Rs 4,200-4,400 despite subdued demand, while urad (medium quality) was quoted at Rs 3,800-4,000 a quintal. Similarly urad (mongar) ruled steady at Rs 6,800-70,00, urad dal (bold) at Rs 5,800-5,850 and urad dal (medium) at Rs 4,800-4,850 a quintal.
