Pepper prices continued to rule steady on limited activities. Arrivals remained thin, while upcountry demand also was weak. However, some buying interest is popping up of late, market sources told Business Line.
They said sellers in Karnataka were offering 480-500 gl material at ₹650 a kg delivered anywhere in India. There were no sellers in Kerala’s plains below ₹675 a kg. Buyers were looking for reprocessed pepper on credit at ₹685. Small quanity of High Range Rajkumari pepper was being traded at ₹690/kg on one week credit, primary market sources said.
On the spot, eight tonnes of pepper were traded at ₹675. Spot prices ruled steady at ₹67,500 (ungarbled) and ₹70,500 (garbled) a kg. Export prices were at $12,000 a tonne cf for Europe and $12,250 for the US.
