The pepper markets on Tuesday turned hot on good demand amid tight supply. There was no arrival at the terminal market. According to traders here, inter-state dealers from Tamil Nadu are buying from farmagates in Idukki (Kerala) high range pepper at ₹700 a kg on cash-and-carry basis. Spot prices shot up by ₹1,000 a quintal to ₹66,000 (ungarbled) and ₹69,000 (garbled) a quintal. Export prices also moved up to $12,050 a tonne c&f for Europe and $12,300 for the US.
