On the back of good demand in spot market and decreasing arrival, traders started covering on the futures. As a result, prices increased. On the NCDEX, castor August contract was up ₹75 to ₹4,232 a quintal, with an open interest of 152,020 lots.
NCDEX September contract gained ₹71 at ₹4,315 with an open interest of 128,990 lots. On the Rajkot Commodity Exchange, September series gained ₹76 to ₹4,325. Castor oil edged up by ₹5 to ₹845/10 kg.
Due to Eid holiday most of the spot markets were closed in Gujarat and price remained unchanged as trades were nominal. About 900-1,000 bags of castor arrived in Saurashtra region of Gujarat and quoted at ₹785-795 for 20 kg.
