Spot pepper prices continued to rule firm on Monday despite a marginal slowdown in domestic demand, while March futures contracts on the National Multi Commodity Exchange were nearly steady. On Monday, 20 tonnes of farm-grade pepper were traded between ₹515 and ₹525 a kg, market sources told Business Line . Inter-State dealers were bullish. Karnataka pepper is expected to trickle in from next week onwards. Spot prices increased further by ₹300 to ₹51,500 (ungarbled) and ₹53,500 (garbled) a quintal on tight supply. Export prices were at $8,700-50 c&f Europe and $8,950-9,000 a tonne c&f US and remained totally outpriced.
