Spot turmeric prices increased on demand on Monday as traders here have got demand from North India. “On Monday, hybrid turmeric was sold at ₹9,894 a quintal, which is stated to be the highest price fetched by hybrid finger this year. Some traders and exporters have received upcountry demand, so they are buying offering higher price.
On the back of demand and arrival of quality turmeric, finger turmeric prices ruled above ₹9,000 a quintal for the past week. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹4,699-₹9,139 a quintal, the root variety at ₹4,689 - 8,409. Salem Hybrid: The finger variety was sold at ₹7,291-9,894, the root variety at ₹6,900-8699. Of the 3,850 bags that arrived, 1,210 bags found takers.
At the Regulated Market Committee, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹8,069-9,209 a quintal, the root variety sold at ₹7,699-8,569. Of the 2,544 bags on offer, 2,534 were picked up. At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹8,599-9,199, the root variety at ₹7,688 -8429. All the 1,374 bags on offer was sold.
