Sugar prices on the Vashi wholesale market increased by ₹10-20 a quintal on the lower side, while they ruled steady at the higher end. Activities were limited on ample supply and lower local demand as the first set of festivals has got over. Naka and mill tender rates were unchanged. Producers continued selling at prevailing rates to ease their inventories. Freight rates were steady at higher level.
Arrivals were at 63-64 truckloads and local dispatches were 60-62 loads. On Wednesday, 18-20 mills offered tenders and sold 48,000-50,000 bags at a steady level of ₹2,800-2,910 for S-grade and ₹2,920-3,020 for M-grade.
The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association's spot rates were: S-grade ₹2,962-3,042 (₹2,962-3,042) and M-grade ₹3,100-3,242 (₹3,072-3,245). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹2,910-3,000 (₹2,910-3,000) and M-grade ₹3,020-3,120 (₹3,020-3,120).
