The arrival of turmeric bags to Erode markets improved on Friday. “Though the arrival improved to 7,000 bags, the price did not increase as there was no upcountry demand for the spice.
Only local hybrid turmeric and other medium quality turmeric arrived for sale and 66 per cent stocks were sold,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
The price of the finger variety increased by ₹100 a quintal. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger variety traded at ₹8,012-9,159 a quintal; the root variety ₹7,789-8,729. Of the arrival of 1,668 bags, 748 were sold.
