Cardamom prices extended gains for the third straight day by adding Rs 22.20 to Rs 881 per kg in futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions on rising demand in the spot market.
Restricted arrivals from the producing regions also supported the rise in prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for September delivery rose by Rs 22.20 or 2.59 per cent to Rs 881 per kg with a business turnover of 165 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in June gained Rs 4.90 or 0.67 per cent to Rs 737 per kg in 360 lots.
Traders said a firming trend at the spot markets on the back of rising demand against restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures market.
