Weak availability and improved demand for 'besan' from millers have lifted chana prices in the past one week by ₹250-300 a quintal with chana (kanta) in local mandis being quoted at ₹4,950-5,000, while chana (desi) ruled at ₹4,750 (up ₹250 from last week).
Given weak availability and increased demand from millers, chana is expected to trade higher in the coming days, more so as new crop of chana is still 4-5 months away. Chana dal (average) was at ₹5,600-6,100, chana dal (medium) ₹6,200-6,300, chana dal (bold) ruled at ₹6,600-6,800 a quintal respectively. Dollar chana also traded low on weak buying support with its prices in local mandis being quoted at ₹6,000-6,800 (down ₹200 from last week).
