Cotton price moved up on the back of slow arrival as farmers hold the stock for better price expectation. Moreover, firm international market also supported the Indian cotton to move up. Traders said that farmers expect higher price for their product and hold the stock which resulted in slack arrivals. Domestic mills’ demand was also there for inventory. Gujarat Sankar-6 cotton was up ₹500 to ₹33,500-34,000 per candy of 356 kg. About 25,000 bales of 170 kg arrived in Gujarat and 75,000 bales arrived in India. Kapas or raw cotton was up on improved ginning demand. Kapas gained ₹15-20 to ₹880-910 for a maund of 20 kg in Saurashtra and gin delivery kapas was quoted at ₹910-930.
