Indian Cotton Federation (ICF) is organising its second All India Cotton Conference in Coimbatore during August 12 -13.

The theme of the conference would be ‘Indian Cotton Scenario in the Current Context 2014-15,’said ICF President J Thulasidharan.

Stating that the second edition would be a follow-up of the Federation’s maiden event held on September 1, 2012, he said such conferences provide the platform to discuss the challenges faced by the sector and seek opinions from all sections of the trade. “The earlier event focused on the challenges facing the cotton industry. The discussions were useful, but we realised that due to time constraint, the problems confronting the industry could not be discussed at length. Hence, we have proposed to conduct it over two days this year,” Thulasidharan said.

He said that since cotton prices would be the deciding factor for smooth working of the textile industry with sustenance of margins in domestic and export sales, discussions in the forthcoming event would centre around policy initiatives of the government, agencies.

The resolutions adopted will be forwarded to the Union and State Governments for consideration.

ICF is expecting at least 300 delegates from India and abroad to participate in this event.
