Cotton ruled steady on limited buying by domestic mills. A similar trend prevailed in kapas or raw cotton. According to traders, mills were buying in line with their requirements. Export demand was slow after price constantly gained during April. Gujarat Sankar-6 cotton was traded at ₹33,500-700 for a candy of 356 kg. About 25,000 bales of 170 kg arrived in Gujarat and 60,000 bales arrived across the country. Demand from ginners was slow as price was up last week. Kapas went for ₹900-905 for a maund of 20 kg in Saurashtra region. Gin delivery kapas was at ₹920-925. On the NCDEX, kapas April contract declined by ₹11.5 to ₹813.5 per 20 kg with an open interest of 3,512 lots.
