Crude oil futures fell Rs 15 to Rs 4,692 per barrel today as speculators cut down their bets owing to weak cues from Asian markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in August was trading lower by Rs 15 or 0.32 per cent at Rs 4,692 per barrel in 1,509 lots. Similarly, crude oil for delivery in September fell Rs 2 or 0.04 per cent to Rs 4,610 per barrel in a business volume of 67 lots.
Analysts said apart from profit-booking by speculators, weak Asian cues weighed on crude prices at the futures trade. Globally, West Texas Intermediate crude oil was down 9 cents, or 0.13 per cent, at $68.17 a barrel, while Brent too shed 7 cents, or 0.10 per cent, to $73 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
