Spot turmeric prices at Erode markets increased due to upcountry demand.
“The traders also quoting increased price for the hybrid turmeric have procured the turmeric. The Salem Hybrid turmeric was sold at ₹9,800 a quintal and the local hybrid was sold at ₹9,300,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
On Tuesday, the price of the finger turmeric was up ₹200 a quintal and the root turmeric by ₹150.At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹6,385-9,869 a quintal; the root variety at ₹5,799-8,896. Of the arrival of 1,141 bags, 665 were sold.
