The rice market witnessed an uptrend on account of fresh buying, prices of aromatic and non-basmati rice increased by Rs 20-50 a quintal, on Tuesday.

Mr Amit Kumar, proprietor of Hanuman Rice Trading Company, told Business Line that due to good buying and trade enquiries the market witnessed the uptrend. Market may rule around current levels for the next few days, he said.

Prices of Pusa 1121 (steam) rose marginally by Rs 25 and ruled at Rs 5,150-5,425 a quintal, Pusa-1121 (sela) was quoted at Rs 4,150-4,370, and Pusa-1121 (raw) was at Rs 5,120.Prices of duplicate basmati increased by 30 and quoted at Rs 3,720-4,080 a quintal. Prices of pure basmati (raw) ruled at Rs 7,400-7,520 a quintal.

For the brokens of Pusa 1121, Tibar was quoted at Rs 3,100-3,550, Dubar at Rs 2,400-2,700 and Mongra was at Rs 1,900-2,240.

Prices of sharbati varieties rose by Rs 20-40, Sharbati (steam) quoted at Rs 3,050-3,220, while the Sharbati (raw) was at Rs 2,800-2,990 a quintal.

PR-11 (sela) increased by Rs 25 and ruled at Rs 2,050-2,175 and PR-11(raw) was quoted at Rs 2,050-2,225 a quintal. Permal varieties witnessed the major uptrend and prices rose by 40-50 a quintal, Permal (sela) quoted at Rs 1,700-1,975 a quintal.
