The prices of the both varieties of turmeric decreased at Erode markets on Thursday. The sale also decreased to 60 per cent, he said.
Of the arrival of 4,154 bags of medium and poor qualityat the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard only 25 per cent was purchased by the buyers.
Similarly, in the Regulated Market also the sale was decreased to 60 per cent, this is ten to fifteen per cent lesser than previous day market sale. The price of the finger variety was decreased by ₹75 to ₹100 a quintal in the four markets and the root variety was decreased by ₹100 a quintal in all the markets.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association Sales yard the finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,385 to ₹8,569 a quintal, root variety was sold at ₹5,322to ₹7,939 a quintal. Of the arrival of 4,154 bags 1,877 bags were sold.
At the Regulated Marketing Committee the finger turmeric was sold at ₹6,899 to ₹8,319 a quintal, Root variety was sold at ₹6,799 to ₹7,839 a quintal. Of the arrival of 1,800 bags 1,195 bags were sold.
