Spot turmeric prices were unchanged at Erode markets as buyers were waiting for the arrival of new crop that will hit the market soon. “Traders are eagerly expecting the arrival of new turmeric, especially the Mysore Number Ten variety,” said RKV Ravishankar, a trader.
On Tuesday, 3,500 bags arrived for sale and 50 per cent stocks were sold. The turmeric farmers said that they wanted to sell all their medium quality produce and will bring limited quantity of good quality turmeric as they are expecting increased price for the good quality turmeric. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, finger variety was sold at ₹5,358-8,666 a quintal and root variety at ₹5,189-7,889. Of the arrival of 2,419 bags, 1,210 were sold.
