Spot turmeric prices showed a mixed trend at Erode markets. While the price of finger variety decreased, that of root variety increased. The sale of turmeric was down at 65 per cent. Only 3,000 bags of the spice arrived for sale and the traders purchased all the good quality and medium variety turmeric, said RKV Ravishankar, a trader. Regarding the price, the finger turmeric lost ₹189 a quintal and the root variety was up ₹289. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger variety went for ₹5,588-8,600 a quintal; the root variety ₹5,388-7,884. Of the 1,820 bags offered, 756 were sold.
