Improved buying support lifted chana prices in local mandis marginally with chana (kanta) being quoted at ₹2,700-50 a quintal. Chana (desi) ruled steady at ₹2,400-2,500, chana (mausmi) at ₹2,600-2,700, Kabuli Bitki at ₹2,400-2,600, while Kaktu ruled at ₹2,550-2,650.
Notwithstanding lower crop output, chana had been trading atrociously low in local mandis for quiet sometime with its prices going down to as low as ₹2,500 a quintal few weeks ago. However, given the current weather outlook and lower crop output, prospects for chana appear bullish in the coming days, said Prakash Vora, a local chana trader .
Chana dal (average) was at ₹2,950-3,100, chana dal (medium) at ₹3,200-3,400, while chana dal (bold) ruled at ₹3,500-3,600.
Uptrend in dollar chana continued for the second consecutive week on improved export demand with its prices at ₹4,500-5,300 (up ₹200) amid arrival of 1,600 bags. In container also, improved export demand lifted dollar chana prices in the past one week by ₹400 with 42/44 count at ₹5,875-5,900, 44/46 count at ₹5,675-5,700, 58/60 count ₹4,575-4,600, while dollar chana 60/62 count was ₹4,475-4,500 a quintal.
