With monsoon continuing to play truant, pulse prices in Indore mandis are on the boil amid declining arrivals. Though monsoon has made a selective arrival in some parts, it continues to elude major parts of the State forcing stockists and farmers to hold back their produce leading to steep rise in chana.

On Tuesday, chana (kanta) in Indore mandis ruled at ₹2,900-25 a quintal, while chana (desi) ruled at ₹2,600-25, Kaktu at ₹2,600-2,700, while Kabuli Bitki ruled at ₹2,600-2,800. Given delay in sowing and weak monsoon this year, bullish trend in chana is expected in the coming days, said Prakash Vora, a wholesale chana trader.

Rise in spot chana has also lifted its dal by almost ₹200-250 a quintal in the past one week with chana dal (average) at ₹3,200-3,350, chana dal (medium) at ₹3,500-3,600, while chana dal (bold) ruled at ₹3,750-3,900.

Dollar chana ruled firm amid declining arrival at ₹4,500-5,000. In container, dollar chana 42/44 count was quoted at ₹5,800-25, 44/46 count ₹5,600-25, 58/60 count ₹4,550-75, while dollar chana 60/62 count ruled at ₹4,450-75 a quintal respectively.
