After trading flat for the last couple of weeks, masur has begun to witness an uptrend with demand outstripping arrivals. On Friday, masur (bold) ruled at ₹5,150 a quintal, while masur (Madhya Pradesh) rose to ₹4,600-4,700 a quintal. According to traders here, weak arrival and costlier imports have once again added to bullish trend in masur and other pulse seeds.
A couple of weeks ago, masur had been witnessed a rally with arrivals not keeping pace with demand. Masur (bold) prices went up to ₹5,200 a quintal. Substantial decline in domestic crop output due to large-scale damage to the crop and slack arrival of imported masur contributed to steep rise in masur prices. Rise in masur also lifted its dal on Friday with masur dal (average) quoted at ₹5,900, while masur dal (bold) ruled at ₹6,000, while masur (bold) ruled at ₹6,100 a quintal. With steady rise in arrival of new crop on Friday, moong ruled steady with moong (bold) ruling at ₹7,200-7,300 a quintal, while moong (medium) was quoted at ₹6,500-6,800 a quintal. On the other hand, rise in prices of imported pulse seeds lifted prices of majority of pulses in Indore mandis on Friday with moong dal (medium) quoted at ₹8,500-8,600 a quintal, moong dal (bold) at ₹9,400-9,500, while moong mongar rose to ₹9,800-10,000 a quintal.
Urad ruled flat on subdued demand on Friday with urad (bold) quoted at ₹4,800-4,950 a quintal, while urad (medium) was quoted at ₹4,300-4,600 a quintal. Compared with last week, urad is ruling ₹100 a quintal lower. Urad dal also ruled flat with urad dal (medium) quoted at ₹5,300-5,600 a quintal; urad dal (bold) at ₹5,800-6,000; while urad mongar ruled at ₹6,000-6,400 a quintal.
