A volume of 19.51 lakh kg has been catalogued for Sale No: 47 of the Coonoor Tea Trade Association auction, which will conclude on Friday.
This is as much as 1.65 lakh kg more than the volume offered for last week’s sale.
Of the 19.51 lakh kg, 17.94 lakh kg belongs to the CTC variety and only 1.57 lakh kg, to the orthodox variety. The proportion of orthodox teas continues to be low in both leaf and dust grades.
In the leaf counter, only 98,000 kg is orthodox, while 11.53 lakh kg is CTC.
Among the dusts, only 59,000 kg is orthodox while 6.41 lakh kg is CTC.
In all, 12.51 lakh kg belong to leaf grades and 7 lakh kg, to dust grades.
