Spot pepper prices fell by ₹1,800 a quintal in a week ever since the new pepper started trickling in. It dropped from ₹67,800 and ₹70,800 last Monday to ₹66,000 and ₹69,000 a quintal today. On the terminal market, 10 tonnes of new pepper were traded at ₹650 a kg. Spot prices fell further by ₹300 a quintal to ₹66,000 (ungarbled) and ₹69,000 (garbled). On the IPSTA January, February and March contracts were steady at ₹65,000, ₹63,000 and ₹58,000 a quintal. Export prices were at $10,600 a tonne c&f for Europe and $10,850 for the US.
