State-owned trading firm STC has invited bids for the sale of 20,400 tonnes of Canadian yellow peas in the domestic market.
The bids will close on March 10 and a decision on awarding the contract will be taken on the same day, the firm said in a statement on its Web site.
The consignment of two lots of imported Canadian yellow peas of 12,000 and 8,400 tonnes, respectively, is being stored at the export warehouse at the Kolkata port, it said.
The minimum quantum to be bid for is 500 tonnes and offers should be accompanied by an Earnest Money Deposit of 25 per cent of the bid value, it added.
India imports 3-4 million tonnes of pulses annually to meet domestic demand.
