Low arrivals have lifted the prices of good liquoring teas at the Kochi auctions by ₹1-2 and sometimes more. Abnormal temperatures prevailing in and around high ranges have impacted production in some tea gardens and hit arrivals. The quantity on offer for CTC dust was at 8,99,356 kg in sale no 9, lower than the previous week.
Leading blenders were active on good liquoring varieties.
The market for orthodox varieties in primary grades barely remained steady and the quantity on offer was 7,500 kg. Exporters continue to be the main stakeholders.
In Cochin CTC dust quotation, good varieties fetched ₹124-170, mediums, ₹93-132 and plain grades, ₹85-96.
In the leaf category, the market for select best Nilgri brokens, whole leaf and Fannings in orthodox grades was firm to dearer. The quantity on offer was 1,85,052 kg. There was active participation by exporters.
In CTC leaf, the market for good liquoring brokens was higher, while Fannings remained dearer. The quantity on offer was 62,000 kg.
Monica SFD quoted the best rate of ₹170 in dust grades; Chamraj FOP was top among leaf varieties, quoting ₹291.
