After a dull start, both the volumes and the rate registered an increase at sale no 3 of the Coonoor Tea Manufacturers’ Service Industrial Co-operative Society Ltd (TeaServe) auction compared to the last two weeks’ trade.

While the volumes sold rose to 82.4 per cent this week compared to 66 - 67 per cent taken up at sale no 1 and 2, the price too increased by ₹2.13/kg (against less than ₹1/kg last week) to ₹69.97/kg

As in the past, the unsold volume of leaf category of tea was far less — at less than 5 per cent of the offered volumes. Around 29 per cent of the tea dust found no takers, which again was better than the 50 per cent left unsold during the previous week’s sale.

Salisbury’s Broken Orange Pekoe Small (BOPSM) topped the CTC market at ₹81/kg.

In the CTC dust auction, Salisbury’s Pekoe Dust hit a high of ₹85/kg, up by over ₹11/kg compared to the previous sale’s average of ₹74/kg.
