Pulses showed a mixed trend with tur and urad showing a gain on weak arrival. Chana and masoor declined on weak buying by the millers. Though local mandis remained closed for the second day on Tuesday because of Chetichand Jayanti , in private trending, pulse seeds showed mixed trend. Chana (kanta) declined by Rs 25 at Rs 2,250 on the back of weak demand at the higher rate. Chana (desi) quoted at Rs 2,225-2,250. Arrival of chana was almost negligible because mandis were closed.

Chana dal ruled firm with chana dal (bold) in the spot quoted at Rs 2,900-2,925, chana dal (medium) quoted at Rs 2,800-2,825 and chana dal (average) quoted at Rs 2,675-2,700 a quintal. In the past four days, chana dal has witnessed a decline of Rs 25-50 a quintal. Tur saw a gain on limited arrival and slightly improved demand. In the spot, tur (Maharashtra) quoted Rs 25 up at Rs 3,925 a quintal, tur (red) quoted at Rs 3,650 and tur (Nimari) quoted at Rs 3,300-3,500 a quintal. According to traders, storm and rains in parts of Bihar, Bengal and Myanmar have affected arrival of tur. Demand in tur dal remained subdued with tur dal (marka) in the spot quoted at Rs 6,500 a quintal, tur dal (full) quoted at Rs 5,900-6,000 and tur dal (sawa no.) quoted at Rs 5,200-5,300 a quintal.

Weak arrival and rise in prices of imported urad has also perked up urad by Rs 200 a quintal in the past two-three days. Because of the rise in prices of imported tur by $35-46 a quintal on inclement weather in Myanmar, urad (best quality) has zoomed to Rs 4,500 a quintal from Rs 4,300 a quintal few days back. Similarly, urad (medium) also saw a gain at Rs 3,800-4,100 a quintal. Rise in urad also perked up urad dal with urad (mongar) quoted at Rs 7,000-7,300 a quintal, urad dal (bold) quoted at 6,100-6,200 a quintal and urad dal (chilka) quoted at Rs 5,100-5,200 a quintal.

Masoor on the other hand declined by Rs 40 on weak arrival and poor demand. From Rs 3,340 a quintal in the morning, masoor (bold) declined to Rs 3,300 a quintal in the evening on weak buying at the higher rate. Masoor (medium) quoted at Rs 3,000 a quintal. No change was witnessed in masoor dal with masoor dal (bold) in the spot being quoted at Rs 4,000-4,025, masoor dal (medium) quoted at Rs 3,850-3,875 a quintal and masoor dal (average) quoted at Rs 3,725-3,750 a quintal. Masoor dal is still ruling high by Rs 50-100 a quintal against its prices four days ago.

In the past two days, moong also gained Rs 100-200 a quintal on improved queries. In the spot, moong (best quality) quoted at Rs 5,200 a quintal and moong (medium) quoted at Rs 4,200-4,700 a quintal. Demand in moong dal remained steady with moong (mongar) in the spot quoted at Rs 6,200-6,300 a quintal, moong dal (bold) quoted at Rs 6,000 and moong dal (chilka) quoted at Rs 5,600-5,700 a quintal. According to traders, new summer moong will start arriving in local mandis likely by the last week of this month.
